About Us

Who We Are

We are a small, friendly tennis club who cater for all ages and abilities. We offer adult and junior singles leagues, adult and junior teams in local and national leagues, an annual club championship, three adult’s doubles club sessions and one junior club session per week as well as Cardio Tennis and individual and group coaching.  The club also runs a number of social events during the year. We are fortunate to have one of the strongest coaching teams in the county and have a very vibrant and expending junior section, catering for all levels from beginners to performance players.  We have two tarmac and two clay courts.

What Areas Do We Cover

If you want to play tennis in Bagshot, Windlesham, Lightwater, Sunningdale, Bisley or the eastern side of Camberley, we're likely to be your nearest club.

Our Ethos

Bagshot Tennis Club (formerly known as Bagshot and Crawley Rise Tennis Club) is proud of its heritage and committed to providing tennis for all members of our community and their visitors from far and wide.

In 2014, we re-doubled our efforts to get local children involved in tennis as an activity to improve their fitness, agility and co-ordination.  A new highly qualified and experienced Coaching Team, comprising Jason Jokhoo and Megan Emmett was recruited.  Jason and Megan are Jet Tennis and work in very close partnership with the club. The results have been remarkable, with a threefold increase in numbers and with six schools now linked to the Club.  Late in 2014, two additional schools catering for special needs children joined the fold to the immense satisfaction of all involved.

Going forward, our aim is simple. We want to grow usage so the courts are fully utilised in line with our obligation to sport, as a means to a happier and healthier life and to our community.

Our History

The Club is a founder member of the Bagshot Playing Fields Association (BPFA for short). This is a Registered Charity formed in 1978 to provide recreational facilities for the people of Bagshot and its surrounds. This vital organisation is run solely by volunteers to whom we are eternally grateful. The BPFA have gone from strength to strength over the years, by significantly expanding the activities catered for and number of people using the facility.

We are deeply indebted to Surrey Heath Borough Council and Windlesham Parish Council for their wholehearted support from the beginning. They together with Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have enabled us to grow into a four court all weather facility with floodlighting.  A bit different from our origins, a single unlit court belonging to a local resident a Mrs Morrison of Crawley Rise, Camberley.

In 2017 with help from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, we were able to resurface two of our four courts in artificial clay.

Nevertheless, we continue to ensure that courts are available to non-members of the Club every day of the week.

We are also grateful to Prince Edward and Sophie who kindly opened our expanded facilities in 1998. This was a great advertisement for everything going on in the Club and the BPFA.
